  • Strengthened community-level economic activity

Project Overview

Project Overview

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a growing health crisis in Bangladesh, where many patients depend on regular dialysis to survive. However, the high cost of treatment makes it nearly impossible for low-income individuals to continue life-saving care.

The Peace Foundation Dialysis Support Project aims to establish a dedicated haemodialysis unit at a partner facility to provide free, continuous treatment for vulnerable patients who cannot afford dialysis.

Why This Project Matters

  • Dialysis is essential for survival in advanced kidney disease
  • A single session can cost BDT 2,000–4,000 in private facilities
  • Many patients are forced to stop treatment due to financial hardship
  • Limited capacity in public hospitals leaves many untreated

This project addresses a critical healthcare gap by expanding access to life-saving dialysis services.

Project Location & Partnership

  • Location: Keraniganj, Dhaka
  • Partner Facility: Doctors Trust Kidney Dialysis & Transplant Center
  • Funding Partner: NAHAR (North American Humanitarian Aid and Relief, USA)

The partner facility will provide infrastructure, medical staff, and operational support, ensuring efficient and sustainable service delivery.

Project Objectives

  • Install one fully functional haemodialysis machine
  • Expand free dialysis capacity for underserved patients
  • Provide 50+ dialysis sessions per month
  • Serve at least 6 patients daily across two shifts
  • Ensure transparent implementation and reporting

Target Beneficiaries

This project focuses on patients who are most in need:

  • Low-income individuals and day-labourers
  • Elderly patients without financial support
  • Women and female-headed households
  • Patients at risk of stopping treatment due to cost

All beneficiaries will be selected through verified medical and socioeconomic assessment.

Service Model
